Casting · wax, melting & casting floor

Casting software where the yield is a weight, not an estimate

Make a Tree, melt, cast, break the tree, send the pieces on — each step an issue and a return at a weight, each loss measured against the limit you set, and anything beyond it stopped for approval. Gold, silver and platinum, with the tree traceable back to the bags on it. Part of Valenza Manufacturing.

The floor

Eight screens from wax to a broken tree

A casting floor is not one screen. It is a sequence, and the value of the software is that each step hands the next one a weight it cannot argue with.

Make a Tree

Wax pieces gathered onto a tree, with the bags they came from kept as the parent — so a tree is never an anonymous lump of metal.

Tree History

Every tree the department made, what went on it and what came off it.

Melting Issue & Return

Metal issued to melting at a weight and returned at a weight. The difference is the melting loss, on the transaction.

Casting Issue & Return

The tree goes to casting and the castings come back, weighed. Casting yield is what the two numbers say, not an estimate.

Break a Tree & Tree Done

The tree is broken back into pieces and each piece goes to its bag. Tree Done closes the tree; nothing is left hanging.

Investment Records

The investment step recorded with its own form, so the flask is part of the trail rather than a note on the wall.

Grinding Issue & Return

The castings move on to grinding on the same issue-and-return pattern, with its own allowed loss.

Bag Melting & Bag Cancel

When a bag has to go back into the pot, Bag Melting records it — and Bag Cancel is on the record too, not a deletion.

Yield & loss

Loss with an owner and a limit

Casting yield is simply what the two weights say. Valenza records both, subtracts, and compares the result with the allowed loss for that process and that metal — and stops the step at Loss Approval when it is over.
  • Loss Master: the allowed loss per process and per metal
  • Loss Approval: over the limit, a person signs it off
  • Department Loss and the Loss Report on the same transactions
  • Gain Setting for a return that comes back heavier than expected
  • Dust Collection Reminder and Dust Summary for sweeps and polishing dust

Recovery

Nothing leaves the floor without a ledger

Scrap, sweeps and short metal go to your own refining floor and come back as fine metal — and Tunch, PGI, IGI, stamping and hallmarking each have their own issue, return and, where it matters, their own ledger.

Loss Master

The allowed loss for each process and each metal, set once. Melting, casting and grinding each get their own limit.

Loss Approval

Anything past the allowed limit stops for a person to sign off. Loss beyond tolerance becomes a decision, not a rounding.

Department Loss

The loss of a department as the work happens, not a figure worked out from a monthly total.

Loss Report

Loss by department, by karigar and by metal, next to the limit it was measured against.

Dust Collection & Summary

Dust Collection Reminder and Dust Summary capture polishing dust and floor sweeps on a schedule — the recovery a register never sees.

Metal Use Analysis

In Data Insights: which department consumed what metal, and where it went.

Refinery Issue & Return

Sweeps, scrap and short metal go to your own refining floor and come back as fine metal, with both reports behind it.

Stock Validation

A physical count set against the system, with Validation History keeping every count that was done.

Batches & masters

The floor is configured, not remembered

Wax, melt, melting batch, casting batch, grinding batch, purity, wastage and the stamp are masters — so a batch number and a wastage figure mean the same thing on every shift.

Wax Master & Melt Master

The wax and melt definitions your floor works to, as masters rather than as habit.

Melting Batch

The melting batch formula, so a batch number means the same thing every time.

Casting Batch No

The casting batch numbering formula for the department.

Grinding Batch

The grinding batch formula, on the same pattern as melting and casting.

Investment Form

What the investment step records, defined as a form.

Metal, Purity & Wastage

Metal Master, Purity Master and Wastage Master — gold, silver, platinum, every karat and the wastage each one carries.

Gain Setting

How a gain, not just a loss, is treated when a return comes back heavier than expected.

Stamp & Map Stamp

The mark that belongs on a piece, defined once and mapped to the stamping step.

Before and after casting

The steps on either side of the flask

Casting is the middle of a chain. The design and the job card come before it, and grinding, QC, tagging, packing and dispatch come after — all on the same bag, in the same system.
  • Before: enquiry, estimation, order, job card, CAD or manual design
  • After: grinding, QC with rejection re-routing, tagging, packing, dispatch
  • Karigar Issue and Return for work sent to a karigar at any step
  • Department Stocks, Department Target and Department Delayed per floor
  • Factory Day Close and Tally Stock to close the day

Compare

A weighed casting floor vs the usual way

Most casting departments run on an issue register and a scale, with the loss argued about at month end.

Pricing

One plan for the whole factory — the casting floor included

There is no separate casting licence: all 416 screens come in one plan, with unlimited users, unlimited departments and unlimited units, and your batch formulas and loss limits set up before go-live. The first-time setup is quoted on your factory’s data and hardware rather than published, because it depends on how much data has to come across, how many departments and units you run and which scales, printers, scanners or RFID readers you use. After that it is a monthly AMC.

FAQ

Casting software — questions factories ask

What is casting software for jewellery?+

Software that runs the wax, melting and casting floor as a chain of weighed hand-offs rather than a set of registers. It records the wax tree and the bags on it, the metal issued to melting and what came back, the tree cast and the castings returned, the tree broken back into pieces, and the loss at each step against the limit you allow.

How does Valenza calculate casting yield and loss?+

Loss is the difference between what was issued and what was returned on each transaction, so it exists as the work happens rather than being worked out later. Loss Master holds the allowed loss per process and metal, Loss Approval stops anything past the limit for a person to sign off, and Department Loss and the Loss Report show it by department, karigar and metal. Dust Collection Reminder and Dust Summary account for sweeps and polishing dust.

Does it handle the wax tree and tree breaking?+

Yes. Make a Tree gathers wax pieces onto a tree and keeps the bag each piece came from as its parent; Tree History keeps every tree the department made; Break a Tree returns each casting to its bag; and Tree Done closes the tree so none is left open. That is what makes a finished piece traceable back through casting to its order.

Is the investment step recorded?+

Yes. Investment Records is its own screen and Investment Form is the master that decides what it captures, so the flask is part of the trail instead of a note on the wall.

Does it work for gold, silver and platinum?+

Yes. Metal Master, Purity Master and Wastage Master cover the metals, karats and purities your floor casts, and the melting, casting and grinding batch formulas are masters — so a batch number means the same thing every time, whichever metal it was.

What happens to scrap, sweeps and short metal?+

They go to your own refining floor on Refinery Issue and come back as fine metal on Refinery Return, with Refinery Issue Reports and Refinery Return Reports behind them. Dust Collection Reminder and Dust Summary capture the dust on a schedule, and Refinery Analysis in Data Insights looks at recovery across the whole floor.

Can a casting department see only its own work?+

Yes. My Department gives the department head his received bags, pending bags, department stock, target, delays, loss, QC rejects, karigars and contractors — and nothing from another department. Each user gets exactly the screens their role allows, with every write on the Activity Log.

How is the floor closed at the end of the day?+

Factory Day Close and Tally Stock close the factory department by department, so tomorrow opens from a number everybody agreed on. Stock Validation sets a physical count against the system, and Validation History keeps every count that was done.

Is casting sold as a separate module?+

No. The casting floor is part of Valenza Manufacturing, one module covering the whole factory — 416 screens across 55 department menus, from enquiry to dispatch. No department is sold as an add-on.

How much does it cost?+

One all-in-one plan: every module, unlimited users, unlimited departments and unlimited units. There is a one-time setup charge, quoted on your own factory data and hardware, and then a monthly AMC that covers support, updates and new features. The setup is quoted rather than published because it depends on how much data has to come across, how many departments and units you run, and which scales, printers, scanners or RFID readers you use — so book a demo and we will scope it with you. The AMC figure is on the pricing page.
